I must eat breakfast! If I don't, my tummy grumbles and then I'm starved by lunch. Yesterday (Sunday) I had a great breakfast of cereal sprinkled with flax seed and bananas with a side of grapefruit. And I've been buying frozen strawberries at Costco and making strawberry and vanilla milkshakes. I always make a little extra to give to my M.I.L. Isn't she adorable btw? Well imagine her eating a strawberry milkshake for the first time in her life! So cute!

Today (Monday) I enjoyed a bowl of oats with a sprinkle of flax seed, a handful of broken peacans, a scoop or raisins and then a spoon of peanut butter. This is my favourite breakfast by far!

And so healthy too!

Just for fun!

HOLY CANADA! Every time we make a trip to Canada we bring back souvenirs. Apparently all the left-overs end up at his moms house. Even our window curtain is a small Canadian blanket.

Yes! I've finally got Sung Hyun addicted to one of my favourite games -- Rummikup (known to me as Tile Rummy). Now he's the one asking me to play it every night.

My humble abode

My mom's house is small but it's a home, filled with love and smiles and delicious meals together.Every night the three of us place the small Korean style kitchen table on her bed and enjoy a nice warm home-cooked meal. It's always delicious!!
I thought I'd be able to loose weight quite easily here but I think the opposite might just happen
A peak from the kitchen
Dried seaweed -- anyone back home ever imagine I'd be eating this?

Last night, regardless of my sickness, I was itching to check out the new H & M store here in Korea. I managed to drop $210 there picking up some business attire for my new job. Sung Hyun insisted I buy this jacket:

I also bought a dress, 2 tops and skinny jeans!

Sometimes I look around smile and wonder how I got so lucky to be living this life. I'm truly having an amazing time in Korea and I actually really like living with my mother-in-law. I have a great group of people that I can call my friends. For the past 3 weeks I have been attending full-time Korean language courses at Sogang University and the teachers/ fellow classmates have far surpassed my expectations. I've had several amazing job opportunities fall into my lap. (I totally rocked my first day teaching the Presidents' bodyguards btw). But as the moving to Canada date draws closer I find myself wrapping my arms tighter and tighter around this country wondering how I'm going to be able to just pack it all in a bag and start again new. I think subconsciously I'm wishing for a delay in the paperwork so that the decision of WHEN to leave Korea is not left up to me. I'm just not sure I'm ready to say 'good-bye' and honestly speaking I'm not sure if I will ever feel secure in my decision to leave my new found home. This 'one year adventure to teach English overseas and come back to start my career' has turned into my life. It's transformed who I am.

And then there are days, like today, when I wake up feeling a little lost, when I look into the mirror and see a little more wrinkles on my forehead and feel that life is slipping through my fingers a little too quickly.

I don't live in the moment! I'm either planning for the future or recalling the past; trying to save money for Canada or looking back at old pictures realizing just how blessed I am. This much, I know about myself. I also know that I don't take care of myself or put myself first. Diana's most recent post on health, couldn't have come at a better time.

So today I cancelled my 2 Saturday jobs, a evening of shopping with some friends, a meeting with a new language exchange partner and dinner because I'm coming down with a cold. And I will take the day to rest but not without first feeling a little guilty that I'm treating myself too much.

Maybe I've got it all backwards in the end.........

I LOVE looking back at old trip photos. I have so much and I haven't started to sort them out at all, mostly because they are on Sung Hyun's Korean only computer (and I don't have a computer). So I'm just posting 5 random ones today:

Now on to the rest of the world!

Happy Birthday Sung Hyun! and going to Canada!

Still no update on the status of our application. I'm patiently playing the waiting game and I'm not too concerned yet. Sung Hyun turned 30 Western age today. What an old fart! We went out for dinner to celebrate and then the wait staff surprised him with a birthday song and a silly hat. He scored $10 off at dinner because it was his birthday, he won a free sweet potato au gratin and a book full of coupons for our next visit. He did pretty well. He asked for another North Face jacket for his birthday even though I got him one for Christmas. This guy just can't get enough of The North Face, which takes a big bite into my wallet.

Sung Hyun has expressed two major concerns when going back to Canada. One is that he will really miss Korean food (and quite honestly I will too). It won't be easily available nor as cheap so although we will eat Korean food as much as we like it just won't be the same.

The other concern he has is about the winter. He's always cold here in Korea so he's pretty much going to die in -50 Celsius in winter (you read that right!). So I've found the perfect way to solve this problem while also taking into consideration Sung Hyun's love for The North Face.

Take a look at this beauty: THE PERFECT BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR A COLD WINTER IN CANADA (mom you'll laugh at this!)

It's that time again!

Lots of changes in the past couple of weeks, here are just a few:

1) Finished my job from hell (don't get me wrong I adored the kids)

2) Have officially moved in with my mother-in-law (and so far I'm loving every minute of it)

3) I am transitioning from a full-time teacher to full-time student (and it's hard to go home and have to do homework)

4) I've been offered 6 part-time jobs in the past 3 weeks, non of which I've applied for (I've accepted the offer to teach the PRESIDENT'S BODYGUARDS at the BLUE HOUSE!!!!)

Isn't my mother-in-law adorable?

Standing on a bucket in the kitchen putting my plate on the middle shelf with tissue half hanging out of her pocket! She's such a lovely little lady ;)
