Vietnam Vacation August '08

Stepping out of the airport, we were overwhelmed with taxi drivers who were more than willing to take us to our destination. The Lonely Planet travel guide said it was best to set the meter and pay the metered price. We must have had 'WE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT WE ARE DOING' written all over our face. So after getting in and out of three taxis we decided that we better ask a local. And sure enough they were kind enough to send us on our way.

The drive to the backpackers area, where we were staying, was great. There were motorcycles EVERYWHERE. The taxi driver who was obviously used to driving in these conditions just laughed as we peered out the window. On the drive, there were 3 motorcycles that actually came in contact with the car, either by hitting the side mirror or!!!

We got dropped off and with our large backpacks we were a sure target for locals who would want us to stay at their hotel. But after walking around and checking out a few rooms we picked a place and unloaded. Then we went exploring.

Sung Hyun blending in with the locals. With his tanned skin no one really knew he was Korean.

Wow, now that's a lot of wires

Sung Hyun's first taste of street food
Found a cute little restaurant for dinner
Tofu spring rolls

And some other stuff we weren't sure if we liked

And this picture was taken just before Sung Hyun gaged!!!
But we definately liked the beer
Sung Hyun found some familarity and had a midnight KFC snack

And then we went for massages..................

Thanks, for some reason the fonts and sizing are all screwed up on my site. I don't know how to fix it. I change the size but when I publish it, it is still small......ahhhh so frustrating
